Prepare to be captivated as the highly renowned Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon unite on stage for an exclusive run of Request sa Radyo. This adaptation of Franz Xaver Kroetz‘s landmark play promises a unique theatrical experience that will leave you contemplating the depths of solitude through the power of silence.

“When Clint and Bobby approached me about this project—an experience that tells a probable and possible story deeply relevant to our people—I immediately said yes, even before knowing the details,” Lea Salonga shared. “It will be a challenge, but I hope it lends a figurative voice to those who are suffering.”

Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon, along with Request sa Radyo’s Creative Director, Clint Ramos, delved deeper into their roles and the play during an exclusive masterclass titled Conversations in Spotlight: Live at the JZA Hall, held at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater.  The event was attended by theater students, professors, practitioners, luminaries, and select members of the media.

During the discussion, the stars reflected on their first introductions to the world of theater, revealing how their experiences both within and beyond the industry have shaped their performances and personal growth. Lea and Dolly also expressed their excitement about the unique nature of this production, which features no spoken monologue or singing. Instead, they face the exciting challenge of conveying the story entirely through facial expressions and body movements.

“I’m so looking forward to returning to my first love, the theater, after five long years, and I’m equally excited that it’s with Request Sa Radyo—a play that is both relevant and timely,” Dolly de Leon excitingly shares.

Mark your calendars for this strictly limited engagement, with 20 performances scheduled from October 10 to October 20, 2024, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre in Makati City, Norges. Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon will alternate in performing the solo piece, ensuring a truly unforgettable experience.
