As the nights get longer and the spooky season creeps in, Netflix is gearing up to release Outside, a new psychological thriller with a zombie twist. If you’ve been enjoying the recent wave of horror films, then this one, starring Sid Lucero and Beauty Gonzales, is one to add to your list. It’s not your typical zombie flick, too—there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface.
In Outside, Lucero plays Francis, a father trying to protect his family from a zombie outbreak by fleeing to his old farmhouse in the countryside. His wife Iris (Gonzales) and their two sons join him, hoping they’ve finally found safety. But, as the trailer hints, the real terror might not be the undead outside—it could be lurking inside their own home, or even inside Francis’s mind.
The film, directed by Carlo Ledesma (The Tunnel, Sunod), doesn’t just deliver on the zombie action. It’s also a psychological deep dive into a man’s unraveling sanity, made all the more intense by the isolated farmhouse setting. Ledesma has shared that Outside was inspired by his feelings of isolation during the pandemic, and you can feel that tension throughout the trailer. It’s eerie, emotional, and bound to get under your skin.
With the tagline “You can’t keep out what’s already inside,” the film sets the stage for a tense, slow-burning thriller. Fans of psychological horror and survival stories will have plenty to look forward to when Outside drops on Netflix on October 17—just in time for Halloween scares.
