The runways didn’t only showcase the latest collections; it was also a feast for the senses.
During the Fall/Winter 2024 Fashion Month, it wasn’t just the clothes that left a lasting impression. This season, the real magic happened in the details — the show spaces that transported us, the soundtracks that set the tone, the performances that brought collections to life, and the front rows packed with fashion’s finest. Dive into the best of the best, where every element came together to create unforgettable fashion moments.
Best Soundtrack: Gucci
Gucci’s menswear debut under Sabato de Sarno takes the crown for the best soundtrack for Fall/Winter 2024. As the lights dimmed to total darkness, leaving only the runway aglow, Mark Ronson’s soundtrack took center stage.
The playlist set the mood right from the start, beginning with Romy’s “Loveher,” which brought a sense of intimacy and intrigue to the space. As the models continued to strut down the runway, the vibe shifted with Lucky Love’s “Masculinity.” The intensity only grew with Ronson’s own “Late Night Feelings,” creating a much-needed build-up. The final touch? A Mark Ronson remix of Mina’s “Ancora,” which closed the show with a powerful nod to Gucci’s ongoing theme of rebirth and desire.
Best Front Row: Prada
The front row at Prada’s Fall/Winter 2024 show was nothing short of spectacular. The show’s setting — a blend of office interiors and natural landscapes — was a perfect metaphor for the season’s themes, and the front row mirrored this balance by bringing together some of the most intriguing personalities from film, music, and fashion.
The star-studded audience included Brooklyn Beckham, Christopher Briney, Paapa Essiedu, Luther Ford, Luca Guadagnino, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Damson Idris, Karina, Jaewook Lee, Mahmood, James McAvoy, Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, Louis Partridge, Kentaro Sakaguchi, Riccardo Scamarcio, Troye Sivan, LaKeith Stanfield, Drew Starkey, John David Washington, Li Xian, Bai Yufan, Guillaume Diop, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Vinnie Hacker, Manu Rios, and Dario Costa.
Best Artistic Moment: Loewe
A captivating combination of art and fashion unfolded at Loewe, where Jonathan Anderson teamed up with Los Angeles-based artist Richard Hawkins to create a runway experience like no other. Hawkins, known for his provocative collages, brought together Roman statuary, French decadence, and contemporary celebrity culture, creating a visually stunning exploration of modern masculinity.
The show felt more like stepping into a surreal cathedral dedicated to masculinity, with ‘stained-glass window’ screens flickering with images of celebrities like Jamie Dornan, Josh O’Connor, Omar Apollo, and Manu Rios. The stars filmed themselves on their iPhones, capturing intimate moments of self-reflection, while Hawkins’ vibrant collages played in the background. The runway ended with a series of Hawkins’ paintings, set up like an ‘altar,’ giving the show a sense of reverence. The mix of these elements with the preening celebrities added a layer of depth that made the show feel like more than just a fashion presentation.
Best Casting: Dior
Kim Jones drew from a diverse lineup of models for Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2024. The mix of established and new faces added a dynamic quality to the show, with each model contributing to the overall narrative Jones sought to create — a modern homage to the art of ballet and its intersection with menswear.
The cast, curated by Shelley Durkan, brought a unique energy to the runway, with Trystan Ricketts opening the show and Dugyeong Kim closing it. Models like Akeem Koya, Finlay Robinson, and Malick Bodian brought the collection to life by taking on the fluidity and structure that defined the collection while helping move between the softer, flowing pieces and the more tailored, structured looks.
Best Grooming: Fendi
Fendi truly stood out by putting a new take on blush for men. It’s the kind of rosy glow we’re all familiar with from those cold-weather days — only this time, it was intentional and polished. Inspired by Silvia Venturini Fendi’s indoor-outdoor vision for the collection, Swedish makeup artist Daniel Sallstrom crafted a fresh and grounded look that perfectly echoed the season’s themes.
Sallstrom aimed to capture the natural flush of cheeks after spending time outdoors. Using liquefied lipstick, he applied a subtle blush across the models’ noses and cheeks, creating a warm, ruddy effect that mimicked the look of coming in from the cold. The grooming didn’t stop there: hairstylist Gary Gill added a windswept side part to the effect, complementing the overall look with a sense of effortless cool. Overall, the memorable (and striking) look helped tie together the collection’s blend of city and country influences.
Best Showspace: Louis Vuitton
The standout show space of Fall/Winter 2024 was undoubtedly Louis Vuitton’s, where Pharrell Williams transported everyone to the heart of the American West. Set in the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris, the venue was more than just a backdrop — it was an immersive journey that perfectly captured the Maison’s spirit of travel while paying tribute to the roots of the American Western wardrobe.
What made this show space truly special was the collaboration with artists from the Dakota and Lakota nations. Led by Dee Jay Two Bears of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the staging was rich with cultural significance. From Dakota Flower motifs to hand-painted parfleche designs, every element was thoughtfully integrated, creating a space that felt both meaningful and visually stunning. The show wasn’t just about the clothes — it was a celebration of heritage and artistry, making it an unforgettable season highlight.
