More than duality, the Gucci Attache stands as a reinvention of the House’s handbag from its very own archive.
The Gucci Attache is the latest addition to the House’s collection of handbags. The piece is a product of contemporary design — reviving and reinterpreting a historical object glanced upon the House’s archive. Flashing forward a silhouette reminiscent of 1970s attitudes and imaginations, the Gucci Attache brings what was known to the present day – going beyond masculinity and femininity.
The French word for “hook,” the Attache, closes onto itself like a hook from the two corners of the bag. folding into somewhat of a half-moon design encompassed by the Web, a metal G opens and closes the piece. The Gucci Attache is versatile, being able to be sported either on the shoulder or across the body. In both the small and medium variants of the bag, there is a certain flexibility with regards to style and functionality that the Attache carries.
The Gucci Attache found its origins in the House’s archives, as Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele took a momentary look at the bag and decided to bring it to new life – immediately including it in the Gucci Love Parade collection which had a show held in Los Angeles. The G-shaped clasp then served as the link between the bourgeois nature and utilitarian aesthetics.
