What You Need to Know About Celine’s First Ever Lipstick

The Maison is set to launch a different kind of luxury beauty ritual with an ultra-stylish lippie.

Hedi Slimane has undeniably done innovative things for Celine. Through his unique creative vision and desire to expand the Maison’s portfolio of products, the designer launched Celine Haute Perfumerie back in 2019. Now, Slimane is poised to make waves in the beauty sphere yet again with the launch of Celine Beauté. The first-ever cosmetics line in the House’s history will include a full range of products that promise to complete anyone’s beauty ritual — from lip balm to nail polish.

But all eyes are on the lips, as Celine announced the inaugural pièce de résistance of its makeup range: the Le Rouge Celine lipstick. Worn by young actress Ever Anderson in a captivating promotional video directed by Hedi Slimane himself, with an accompanying soundtrack of “Sunshine Kid” by Grace Inspace, the lippie is set to be the epitome of wearable and comfortable luxury.

According to Slimane, the formula is said to be exceptionally creamy, long-wearing with a silky satin finish, and is comprised of 89% natural origin ingredients. Since the Maison sees this as a “natural extension” of its fragrance line, the lipstick does have a scent: a delicate 70’s accord of rose and rice powder. While its case — yes, the lipstick is refillable to lessen product wastage — is inspired by late 18th Century French-style classicism, particularly Louis XVI’s golden trinkets and the modern minimalist aesthetic of the art deco movement. The Maison’s Triomphe iconography is also seen throughout the product, from the front of the bullet to the casing’s top cap.

Celine Beauté will be available on celine.com starting mid-October
